The Story

Meet Bal Lahoti

Born in 1940 in a small town in southern India, Bal "Balkishan" Lahoti was one of seven siblings. A self-described logical person with good common sense, he pursued an engineering degree against his family's expectations — a decision that would eventually bring him to America on a scholarship.

After working for companies like Ford and McDonnell Douglas, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to open a successful Indian grocery store in California in the early 1970s. But it was his discovery of yoga and pranayama breathing techniques that truly transformed his life.

Now at 85, Bal believes that specific breathing techniques are crucial for rejuvenating internal organs, keeping the mind healthy, and maintaining a positive, stress-free outlook on life. His philosophy is simple: "When a person is not in pain, they can be relaxed and project positive energy to others."
