Nadi

नाड़ी

Energy channels in the subtle body through which prana (life force) flows, purified through pranayama and yoga practices.

Nadis are the energy channels or pathways in the subtle (non-physical) body through which prana (life force energy) flows. According to yogic tradition, there are 72,000 nadis in the human body, with three being the most important: Ida (left, lunar, cooling), Pingala (right, solar, heating), and Sushumna (central, spiritual).

Bal Lahoti's pranayama practices, particularly Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing), are specifically designed to purify and balance the nadis. When the nadis are clear and balanced, prana flows freely throughout the body, promoting physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance. Blockages in the nadis are believed to cause disease and discomfort. Regular pranayama practice is considered the most effective way to keep the nadis clear.
