ॐ
The sacred universal sound in Hinduism and yoga, chanted during meditation to connect with cosmic consciousness and promote deep relaxation.
Om (also written as "Aum") is considered the most sacred syllable in Hinduism, Buddhism, and yoga. It is believed to be the primordial sound of the universe — the vibration from which all creation emerged. The sound consists of three phonemes: A-U-M, representing creation, preservation, and dissolution.
Bal Lahoti's daily meditation practice centers on Om chanting. He teaches that the vibration of Om resonates through the entire body, creating a calming effect on the nervous system and promoting a deep sense of peace. The practice involves sitting comfortably, taking a deep breath, and producing the Om sound on a long, steady exhalation. Bal recommends starting with 5-10 minutes of Om chanting and gradually increasing the duration as comfort grows.
