Prana

प्राण

The vital life force energy that sustains all living beings, controlled and enhanced through pranayama breathing practices.

Prana is the Sanskrit word for the vital life force that permeates all living things. It is similar to concepts found in other traditions: "chi" or "qi" in Chinese medicine, "ki" in Japanese healing arts, and "pneuma" in ancient Greek philosophy. In yogic philosophy, prana is not just the breath itself but the energy carried by the breath.

Bal Lahoti's entire anti-aging philosophy centers on the concept of prana. He teaches that by controlling and enhancing the flow of prana through pranayama breathing techniques, one can maintain vitality, health, and mental clarity well into old age. His daily practice of various pranayama techniques is essentially a systematic approach to maximizing prana in the body. Bal often says that the quality of our breath directly determines the quality of our life.
