भ्रामरी
The 'humming bee breath' — a calming pranayama where the practitioner produces a humming sound during exhalation, soothing the nervous system.
Bhramari Pranayama gets its name from the Indian black bee (Bhramari). During this practice, the practitioner produces a humming sound similar to a bee during exhalation, often while closing the ears with the fingers (Shanmukhi Mudra).
Bal Lahoti values Bhramari for its deeply calming effect on the nervous system. He teaches that the vibrations created by the humming sound have a therapeutic effect on the brain, sinuses, and throat. The practice is particularly beneficial for improving voice quality, reducing tension headaches, and supporting thyroid health. Bal often recommends this technique for those dealing with stress, insomnia, or anxiety, as it quickly induces a state of deep relaxation.
